Frequently Asked Questions
Who can apply?
gBETA Musictech works exclusively with startups building music-related products, services or content. This includes technologies related to sourcing, recording, production, distribution, marketing, touring, licensing and streaming as well as any technology or process innovations that could serve any component of the music industry.
Do startups need to be located in LA to apply?
We accept applications from startups across the globe. However we do require that at least one founder from each startup be located in LA for the duration of the program. Additionally, gBETA is reserving three spots throughout its existing Fall 2018 programs for Musictech companies. Accepted companies can choose their preferred city from the following: Beloit, Cincinnati, Detroit, Indianapolis, Madison, Milwaukee, or Minneapolis. These companies will receive the same mentorship and programming without traveling to LA.
What stage do I need to be at?
gBETA accepts companies from napkin stage through post-revenue.
What kind of commitment do you need from me?
The weekly commitment is two, hour-long team meetings, a two-hour "Mentor Swarm," and an hour-long "Lunch & Learn" lunch. During the last week and a half, we need flexibility for full days of investor and accelerator pitches.
Free program? What's the catch?
None! Thanks to the support of Capitol Records and gener8tor, this program is 100% free to participating startups! In lieu of any fees or equity, Capitol Records reserves a participation right to invest in participating startups’ next financing round.
